On
April 12, 2011, the 112th Congress of the United States of America recognized
the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Version of the
Bible. (HCON 38 IH)
On
September 3, 2011, I celebrated 40 years of reading and studying this trusted
version of the English translation of the scriptures. When I first made the decision to follow Christ over forty years ago, a friend handed me a King James Version of
the Bible and said, "Read this book over and over again. If you come
across something you don’t understand, don’t stop, just keep reading. Treat this
book like your daily food and eat from it every day."
While
there are many versions and translations to choose from, I find that every time
the Words of God come to my mind, they always come in the King James form. I'm not suggesting that God only speaks in the King's English. I simply accept
that it is the version that I have partaken of the most. I do enjoy many of the
different translations and versions available, but I always return to the one version that I am most familiar with and comfortable reading.
When
I received the inspiration to create The WOGBOOK Bible, it was my goal from the beginning
to provide a reading experience that would be productive and edifying. By
removing the verse numbers and reworking the structure of the sentences and
paragraphs I have created a book format that can be read repeatedly and in only
a few days for the average reader. None of the verses have been omitted and I
made no attempt to offer my private interpretation or revised version of the words or text. This
structure allows one to read the book many times over and find the inspiration,
guidance, wisdom, peace, and spiritual sustenance necessary to navigate through
life’s journey.
The
words in this book are not mine. They are words given to us by God so that we
may all come to understand His will and purpose for and to fully comprehend
His ultimate intention for our lives. So
I say to you as well, "Read this book over and over again. If you come
across something you don’t understand, don’t stop, just keep reading. Treat this
book like your daily food and eat from it every day."
